Lutfi Haziri has bad news for Ramush: President must be elected out of coalition

Kosovo's president should either be elected outside coalition partners, or should bring down the ruling parties and those in opposition together to set the election date. There are no other options. So said Democratic League of Kosovo deputy leader Lutfi Haziri in an interview for Inseder.

He confirms that coalition partners are unable to elect the president without co-operation with the opposition.

“Now, either we have to elect a president beyond the coalition partners, which gives him an opportunity, a kind of temporary institutional stability, or we have to put together the opposition position, which is the date of the elections, so that we can all prepare in the pandemic time to face a difficult electoral process. There are no options”, Haziri said.

The LDK's number two stresses that they are willing and in their role have offered constructiveity and have offered political opportunity to help the whole process, facilitate the acceptable solution for all, always beyond coalition partners.

But on the first scale is the coalition partners agree to each other to the details. Do they want to keep this government politically, expand this government if they want to create space beyond the coalition partners, who is the candidate for president who can be elected and can be acceptable to the opposition. All issues in common interest”, Haziri added.

According to Haziri's statements, AAK Chairman Ramush Haradinaj, he seems to be losing hope of becoming president.

Haradinaj ahead of more than three months has been nominated for head of state by his party, AAK.

LDK still discuss PDK's entry into ruling coalition

The president's post is very much talked about getting it. The PDK, in order to join the ruling coalition.

But, Haziri says they still have nothing official from this party and that whenever they have to sit down to discuss it as the LDK.

The “further this is on the scale of speculation that the PDK can take over the president and can be understood in a government configuration with new cabinet members. I'm calling it a phase of speculation because there's no plan that's on the table where the parties talk together”, Haziri said.

According to him, The PDK is still in the opposition camp, even after recent developments, where Enver Hoxhaj took over after Kadri Wessel was sent to The Hague.

“They are in opposition, are being brought to the opposition camp even further and from taking Hoxhaj's post as chairman The PDK, they are clear in the opposition agenda and, of course, since we don't have active dialogue in the involvement of political and opposition political talks I don't see what it gives to the option of political stability”, Haziri points out.

He adds that the PDK can support the national agenda in the interest of Kosovo even without being in Government, even without being in institutions.

“Now is in political interest to define the role and political goal of opposition parties, or move towards common political stability in this phase of transition however it is a year, a year and a half or two, or until the end of the mandate or enter an election cycle which still does not guarantee that there will be sustainable solutions and stable institutions in the country”, Haziri says.

But it says within the LDK it has not yet been discussed involving the PDK in the coalition.

We can't evaluate anything on hypothetical basis. As we see an agenda from the opposition camp The LDK sits down and discusses and walks out. We decide nothing on the basis of prejudice and expectations of others. We as leaders, as leaders sit down and discuss only when we have the white and clear political agenda. We have yet to discuss anything involving or not including anyone in the government”, Deputy Chairman Haziri stressed.

LDK deputy head Lutfi Haziri has also spoken of the charges confirmed to former KLA leaders, saying that from the citizens helped the country manage a situation where the crisis could deepen.

The “Criza warned in the summer this year about confirming the charges, which was actually confirmed in November, clearly showed that when there is will, situations can be managed even grave. In the first phase, the behaviour of the citizens of the people who were invited with confirmed indictment has kept the crisis from deepening. They resigned, left public positions and submitted to the ordinance from the Specialised Chambers”, Haziri said.

But there has been a criticism of the political spectrum in the country, saying there is a missing step -- that of active dialogue for establishing long-term stability.

The second “, the second step is lacking an active dialogue, intensive in finding a way to establish a longer-term stability, a longer-term institutional stability in Kosovo, which would enable the country to focus on internal economic, social problems and resolving major problems, such as dialogue with Serbia, European integration and NATO membership. Because when there is no political stability lacking investment, there is no focus and the focus of policy on solving problems and working on daily basis, today for tomorrow”, Haziri concluded.

The new president, following former President Hashim Thaci's resignation, must be elections within six months, otherwise the country goes to early parliamentary elections.

Political parties have not yet started discussions on whether to decide to vote on a name by any political party, or go to the polls. The only one who has declared that he wants elections, not new president with this ruling coalition, is Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje Movement.
