These are episodes that reflect strained relations between the two Balkan countries. Albanian politician in Montenegro Mehmet Zenka, speaking at Euronews Albania stressed that official Podgorica has been obliged to undertake such an act after the Serbian ambassador acted outside diplomatic competencies.
“This is a measure which has been imposed on Mt. ZI after the Serbian ambassador, who was in office in Podgorica, has committed all roles, but only the ambassador's role has not been. It has been involved in several domestic issues of Montenegro as far as recent disappointments are concerned. Montenegro has been forced to take such a move”, he said.
He said relations between the two states are exasperated, and this is based on Serbian interventions in the election process. Albanian politician also said Serbia has intervened in Montenegro's internal affairs, and has done so through the Orthodox Church in Podgorica.
“Reports are not at a satisfactory level, but I can say they are quite frustrated that the state of Serbia really in these last elections, through the Orthodox Church, has had influence on all pre-election flows, and besides election, and directly engaging in internal affairs. Montenegrin politics has been forced for such a step. Perhaps there are some delayed measures as far as Montenegro's policy is concerned, he stressed.
