The truce was supposed to go into effect from last Saturday, but it seems to have failed, with the defence minister at Nagorno-Karabakh territory within Azerbaijan but governed by ethnic Armenians who are accusing Ezer forces of rocket attacks in several different areas.
Azerbaijan on the other side has accused Armenian forces of attacking its military positions during the time of the ceasefire dividing the two sides, and says some regions within Azerbaijan have been attacked with artillery, duek resulted in the death of a civilian and the injuries of many others, the Guardian reports, Perskopi follows.
Both sides have denied having broken the truce.
Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu made a new appeal for peace over the telephone to the Armenian and Azer defence minister, calling on states that “fully fulfil the pledges given”.
The previous 1991-1994 war had left 30,000 people dead. This conflict has sparked fears of an unpredictable escalation with the possibility of including Turkey and Russia in it. /Periscope
