Large crowds of people had gathered outside the court in Athens until judges handed their verdicts on 68 defendants.
In 2012, Golden Dawn had secured 18 seats in the Greek Parliament, while Greeks were being challenged by the huge financial crisis.
Criminal investigation into the party began after the assassination of an anti-fascist rapper in 2013, writes BBC, translates Periscopi.
Leader Nikos Michaloliakos and his six colleagues were found guilty of running a criminal group. Their supporter Giorgios Roupazias was found guilty of killing an anti-racist musician, and 15 others were convicted of conspiracy over the case.
Some 2,000 police officers were placed around the court until thousands of protesters sought stiff sentences for the group.
Greek President Katerina Sekallaropoulos said the verdict was an important day for the country's democracy. /Periscope
