Amid tensions with France in terms of the prophet Muhammad's cartoons, Turkish President Erdogan says Western countries attacking Islam want to return the Crusades.
During a speech to his party's deputies, Turkish President stressed that attitudes and attacks against the prophet Muhamed was a matter of honour.
They want to restart the Crusades. Since Crusades, seeds of evil and hatred have begun to fall on these lands. It is an honorary matter for us to react against attacks on our prophet who honored Mecca, Medina, Africa, Asia, Europe, the whole world at all times. These are signs that the West is again heading toward a period of barbarity. France and Europe in general do not deserve Macron's policies and those with similar minds spreading some hate”, Turkish President Erdogan said.
Turkey has indicated it will take legal and diplomatic shares in response to the cartoon that French magazine Charlie Hebdo did to President Erdogan, who, according to Turkish officials, spread cultural racism and hatred. French officials in response also stressed they would not fear Turkey.
For several days the tensions between the two states have escalated when President Macron defended the cartoon of the prophet Muhammad, whom the late teacher Samuel Paty revealed to his students. Elysa's chief's move has sparked reactions and protests in many majority Muslim countries.
