US President Donald Trump said today that he is seriously considering imposing customs duties on European car imports if the US and the European Union do not reach a trade agreement.
After meeting with the Pakistani leader at the Davos Economic Summit, he said an agreement with Europe is still expected, the AP reports.
Trump also met with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyeen in Davos, and said she had a good conversation, but did not find out if they had even discussed putting taxes on cars from Europe.
“Europe knows it must do something and if it's right we won't have any problems,” said Trump.
Later, in an interview for the Wall Street Journal, Trump reiterated that he was serious about imposing taxes unless agreement is reached with the EU.
