A group of scientists from Tokyo's Medical and Dental University have developed a device to detect the small amount of gas emitted from human skin. They are formed by evaporation of blood components.
Using a type of gas-related enzyme, they have also developed a sensor that knows gases. Then it shines in blue light. The image processor captures this light and creates a real-time image on the screen.
Researchers say that the device can be used to detect substances derived from the skin of diabetes and cancer patients and can help in early detection of the disease.
A simple test, such as holding a hand on the device, would be enough to detect the disease. We hope to improve the efficiency of the sensor so that it can detect even the smallest amount of gas”, Koji Mitsubishi said.
