MPs with tears in their eyes after Brex approval

The European Parliament gave the final approval of Britain's departure from the EU, opening Brexit Street on Friday, January 31st. 621 lawmakers voted in favor of Britain's secession, 49 opposed, and 13 others abstained. Some of them barely gave way to tears as they sang a traditional Scottish song, the Auld Lang Syne, to bid last farewell to Britain as EU member. The results of the 2016 referendum showed that 52 percent of Britons favour leaving the European Union.
After 31 January, the Brex process will have a transition period by the end of the year. But despite speculation, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has denied that there will be any postponement of this period.
European Parliament President David Susssol said Britain's departure will be painful for the bloc, but he added that building a new partnership, based on friendly co-operation and shared interests, is now essential.
