Kosovo's diplomatic deadlock for recognition

Outgoing Kosovo Government Foreign Affairs Ministry officials appreciate that Serbia's diplomatic aggression to ensure the withdrawal of Kosovo recognitions from different countries has been unsuccessful.

Jethlir Zymberaj, adviser to outgoing Kosovo Foreign Affairs Minister Behgjet Pacolli, tells Radio Free Europe that Serbia's only <x0-> success” has been the creation of false news, mainly in its local media, manipulating with the issue of attracting recognition Kosovo. However, according to him, in just this matter, Serbian diplomacy has suffered fiasko in July of this year.

This, therefore, simply and in essence has only been a manipulation, because states, since Serbia, have claimed that recognitions have attracted, have only given the go-ahead for supporting the” dialogue, Zyberaj said.

Kosovo Foreign Ministry, in August, had accused Serbia's government of offering bribes in exchange Draws recognition of KosovoIt's from the Central African Republic. Kosovo saw convincing evidence

Politologist Ramush Tahiri sees the situation quite differently. He tells Radio Free Europe that the dialogue Kosovo has developed with Serbia, it has managed to present in many countries of the world as talking to the status of Kosovo and has managed to convince those countries to freeze or withdraw recognition of Kosovo, until a status that Serbia would reconcile.

This has succeeded, because Kosovo has not been introduced as sovereign and independent states, but has been presented with introductory and Resolution 1244, and as such, many countries have been puzzled. We have not had recognition and have not had Kosovo membership in international organisations. It means, we have a deadlock in terms of advancing the international subjectivity of Kosovo”, Tahiri stressed.

Political issue acquaintance Artan Muhhaxhiri tells Radio Free Europe that on the issue of attracting Kosovo recognitions, Serbia has offered more arguments. According to him, Serbian authorities have provided written facts, but also joint conferences of Serbia's foreign minister, Ivica Dacic, with foreign affairs ministers of states, which, he says, have claimed to have drawn recognition.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kosovo) would have to offer maximum evidence, even with official visits to those countries, which are claimed to have recognised Kosovo in order to convince Kosovo's opinion in its positions. On the contrary, it remains to be believed, unfortunately, more to Serbia than Kosovo Foreign Affairs Minister”, Muhramiri said.

Is the number of Kosovo recognitions real?

Outgoing Minister of Kosovo Foreign Affairs Behgjet Pacolli, at a news conference on December 10th, had said that There is no draw of recognition of Kosovo.

On this ministry's website, they find 116 states that have recognised Kosovo.

But is that number accurate and real?

Zymberaj, reconfirms his chief's statement, that Kosovo has recognition from 116 countries in the world.

“It is the number of formal recognitions, while Kosovo has come to know much more states than that. At various forums, in various international activities, many powerful states, which have not yet launched the formal act of recognition, have supported with their vote our state and, in fact, it is recognition”, Zymberaj said.

But, politicologist Tahiri expresses the opinion that the Kosovo Foreign Ministry is completely wrong when it considers that the recognitions made to the country, according to international norms and international law, cannot be withdrawn, because in the latter, this attraction is not envisioned.

For my opinion, this is the wrong attitude and it doesn't stand the truth, because knowledge is not APUlanco. Recognition of recognition, for many reasons or severing relationships, can be made. Kosovo holds those states, which it holds (on the Foreign Affairs Ministry's website) and which have recognised Kosovo in a certain period, if there are no diplomatic relations with them, but even if it does not have the support of these states in international agendas dealing with Kosovo membership, but that support has Serbia”, Tahiri praised.

Even analyst Mujariri does not believe the number of recognitions for Kosovo that is claimed by the foreign affairs ministers is real.

No. Kosovo still officially does not have an exact number of countries that have recognised it because official evidence of all states is missing. So it's a disaster that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not become realistic and leave the political game ahead of the reality of the” argument, Muhaxiri stressed.

Since 2017, Serbia has mounted aggressive diplomatic campaign for attracting recognitions of the state of Kosovo. Serbia's Foreign Ministry has declared that 15 countries have so far drawn recognition of Kosovo.
