Turkey's Vice President, Fuat Oktay, announced that the number of people who lost their lives in the Elazığlu earthquake increased to 35, the Anadolu Agency (AA) broadcasts Kosovo.
Oktay has visited the Centre of the Turkish Disaster Management and Emergency Management Agency (AFAD) to get information about the works being developed for Turkey's 6.8-magnitude quake, with a spaced view of the Sisrice region in Elazığş.
He first visited the Centre for Earthquake Research and Rating and the Intervention Centre and then received information from all working groups at the AFAD Centre, which were formed to implement the Disaster Intervention Plan in Turkey.
Before the meeting, Oktay in his statement expressed condolences to the Turkish people for the loss of lives and wished quick recovery for the wounded.
He recalled that with President Recep Tayip Erdoğan visiting the earthquake-hit region and that from the first moments after the earthquake, works under the Disaster Intervention Plan have been quickly implemented.
Oktai thanked the working groups that operate under the co-ordination of the AFAD. And we came from the ground after we looked at, experienced, and felt the reflection of the services, the work and efforts that you have shown as a working group. I thank you warmly on behalf of our citizens in Elazığı and Malatia”, he said.
After announcing that all military and civilian institutions are performing work on every issue after the earthquake, Oktay said that, along with the search for rescues, works are under way in many aspects, logistics, housing, transport and taking measures for the second disaster.
We remember that in the 6.8-magnitude quake that hit the eastern part of Turkey on the night of January 24th, 35 people lost their lives, while more than 1,500 were injured, the Anadolu Agency wrote.
