“Charreserators”, as they all call them here, are almost “regular workers of the Mitrovica region's waste storage site, on the mountain of the Kostova village.
With this job, they ensure the existence of families, even though they are aware that they are endangering their health, but they recognize that they have no choice.
Over 30 people of major age, not counting on a number of minors -- coming from various Mitrovica villages -- are daily visitors to the Germoevo waste depot.
In a space where everything stinks, they often wrapped in their faces and gloves in their hands, some even without them, search for mostly metal and plastic items in the garbage depot to survive with their families.
They also feed on medium - term food items, such as chocolates, various fluids, which are brought here by such institutions as the hospital.
Most of them are aggressive, they don't want cameras, if you insist, attack, then throw rocks, that's just for one reason, because nobody wants to know what they do.
Kosova Preris for two days has barely managed to talk to two of them, who speak briefly and have conditions like names and faces they don't want to make public.
“I'm 21. Get bottles, iron, cans, plastics, rubbers. I'm five or six years away regularly. I'm from 6 or 7 and I'm up to 4-5... we're two members... keep my family with the money I earn... There's another job, I've tried, but no one's going to help you. I always make 1015 euros, for God's sake. Even the wind here, plus the injections we get, it's barely enough... For three months, two more times before I went to the doctor's sorority, without having to test to see how they come out... I went years ago because I was poisoned. We're here, 20,30 people are regularly coming from around”, says one of the échapurititors from the village of Gushafc of Mitrovica.
Until we talked to him and told us that here they come to collect new and old scraps from the villages of Gushafc, Vinarch, Kostov, etc. who are as regular as being employed in the warehouse, many of his friends quickly left, going to the surrounding mountains to leave the camera.
Another cachapuritare expressed satisfaction with the profit here, suggesting that he earns up to 30 euros a day and has managed to build the house with it.
The one who showed that it is today who celebrates working here on the 50th birthday, added that the sʹka where else to work and is forced to do this job to support the family of five members.
We gather here for 6-7 years, cans, irons, plastics, bottles... here they work around 50 people... every day I'm standing around axham, I'm coming up at 6 p.m., I'm gonna be at 6 p.m.... I have a social aid here too what I work for. I don't care who helped me out with my own home. The country we have has to work this job, you know. It's my birthday today, I'm in a lot of shit here for 100 years. Fifty years I did, but God is great, he's hoping to help us, because that's not how it goes”, he said.
In his view, there are times when they are fed here on expired items that people or institutions have thrown while acknowledging that they are being sent home, but he did not want to say so in front of the camera.
The guy behind the camera also pointed out that the latest tests he did proved to be infected, but he says he has no intention of stopping working, since he can hold his family.
Hysen Jashari, responsible for the UN-Germove residence in Kostunica, told Kosovo that there are about 30 people who from post-war come to it regularly and collect refuse.
Gazmend Morina, director of the regional waste disposal company éshtrri and Skenderaj, has announced that remains from the three cities -- Mitrovica, Vushtrri and Skenderaj -- are dumped in the Germovo depot.
According to him, this warehouse is best maintained compared to other warehouses in the country.
He has suggested that for the removal of the Scapurites, as he called them, the police should take care of it, since UN departments have no technical or security access to the issue.
Police spokesman for the Mitrovica region, Avni Zahiti, has indicated that police have responded to the company's demands -- however many times the need has emerged, addressing issues according to the competencies the police have.
On the other hand, infected Wisar Gashi, said people in question during their work and the conditions in which they work are exposed to a major health risk.
He has mentioned the mildest and most dangerous diseases, such as hepatitis B and C, that he said could confront any of those working in those conditions but their family members.
