Scientists in Australia are the first to recreate coronarys outside China's territory in what they call important progress.
The discovery will be offered to the World Health Organization, hoping it can help diagnose and treat the virus, the BBC writes.
Scientists in China have also recreated the virus and shared its genome sequence, but not the virus itself, Periscope follows.
132 people died in China from the virus and were reported to about 6,000 infected persons.
At least 47 confirmed cases are from 16 other countries, including Thailand, France, the US and Australia. No deaths were reported outside China.
