Any U.S. friend is unfortunately considered an Iranian target. US General Michael Barbero, answering journalists' questions, said Albania should be vigilant.
Presented at a meeting in Tirana for security challenges, Barbero said that vigilance should be in anti-terrorism efforts and against cyber attacks.
Question: Can Albania be a target for Iran in the future?
Michael Barbero: Unfortunately, any U.S. friend or ally can be viewed as a target. For this vigilance is especially important in the cyberfield, as Iran has some very sophisticated cyberattack skills. For this reason, Albania must be shown quite vigielines in anti-terrorism efforts and cyber attacks.
General Barbero said NATO would react to any attack that might be made on any member state.
Michael Barbero: The moment has come for Allied partners to stay strong and should not continue to apologise for the killing of Solejman, but it is time to say whether they are against terrorism or not.
I don't think there's a global conflict on the horizon. NATO must intensify the support of operations in Iraq. NATO is an alliance that continues to be important and acts appropriately. I think NATO will react to any kind of attack that will be made to any of its member states.
