The candidate for MP from the ranks of the Democratic Party of Kosovo and PDK chairman Kadri Veselini's adviser, Blerim Latifi, has said the party's programme will be implemented shortly after the elections.
Latifi in an interview for Online Economics, has indicated that it's not just the electorate. The PDK is the one who trusts the programme with this party.
“The PDK, but we can state with full confidence that our political concept of starting new governance with a well-organised and well-thinking dynamic programme of fighting corruption, is a programme that is being widely welcomed by citizens, and as such it will be the winning programme of these elections that will be held on 6 October”, Latifi said.
Latifi has said that at meetings with citizens he has received information about how they are under pressure from those offering charity in exchange for the vote.
Among other things, he says that seeking a favour for the vote is an insult and degradation of the election process.
I've had many meetings with citizens from different countries, I've heard their troubles and sorrows about the country and the future how they see politics, I've heard their demands, and, among other things, I've had to listen to stories of this nature, cases that will tell how certain people have gone and in exchange for voting have asked for various gifts and favors, money and material goods, and that's an ugly phenomenon in the sense that if you buy a vote and if someone in exchange for a financial favor, you sell his vote there and then you get his responsibility and you get a full account.
This is a phenomenon that distorts the fundamental idea of the electoral process, which means the idea that the chosen ones should represent citizens, respond to them and account for them, and that ugly phenomenon distorts this process and that is an insult to citizens if they are bought votes in such forms. I wanted this confession to be denounced as such and thus conscious of the citizens and not let their vote, which is holy to the functioning of democracy, become such abuse”, Latifi said.
And for the composition of party election lists, where many young candidates, Latifi, have been seen within them this time, says he is on the discretion of political parties to recruit people to party or public office, even take into account professional criteria and work experience.
There are two things we have to do here, politics on one side, and need to include people who have great experience, have expertise in various areas, because politics is a matter of making decisions for our lives, decisions that have a direct effect on our lives, and as such politics should be serious and an activity where the expertise and experience of people” is respected.
“ ... but legally each citizen of Kosovo over the age of 18, has legitimate rights, legal rights to compete or compete for a public office, is a legal right which we constitutionally are obliged to respect, is the right of citizens to choose and choose, but it is in the discretion of political parties and in their best interests to recruit people for party or public office to take into account even certain criteria that guarantee success, whether experience or professionalism”, Latifi said.
