I didn't agree with many of his suggestions, as did others in administration”, Trump wrote on Twitter.
Bolton gave another version of the event: “I submitted my resignation last night, and President Trump said tomorrow we should talk”
Bolton, former diplomats, joined the administration in April 2018. He was Trump's third national security adviser, after Michael Flynn and HR McMister.
He served in the administrations of Ronald Reagan, old George Bush and young George Bush.
He has helped create the case against Saddam Hussein, saying that the former Iraqi dictator possessed weapons of mass destruction, but that theory has later proved wrong.
In 2016, Bolton has called for Iran to be bombed.
In a scripture published by the Wall Street Journal shortly before being appointed by Trump, he has mentioned the possibility of attacks in North Korea.
However, after being reunited with the White House, Bolton has changed the tone: “You must know in advance that the president's views are not always your”, he said.
Bolton, late, has been against negotiations between the United States and the Taliban. He is said to have made great efforts to convince Trump not to sign peace agreements with the Taliban, arguing that militants cannot be trusted.
Trump, on the other hand, is reportedly prepared to finalise this agreement by inviting the Taliban leaders to the United States.
According to the New York Times, this has irritated Bolton, who has argued that the president could withdraw American troops from Afghanistan “even without going to bed with an organisation responsible for killing thousands of Americans over the past 18 years”.
Trump has later cancelled talks with the Taliban, as has the planned invitation for them.
Talks with Taliban are dead
Its acting advisers reportedly have not even enjoyed repeated meetings with the northeastern leader, Kim Jong Un, despite his refusal to give up the nuclear programme.
At the last meeting in June, in what is known as the DMZ between the two Koreas, Bolton has not accompanied Trump.
A day before his dismissal, North Korean officials have said they are willing to resume talks with the US for nuclear disarming.
Tensions between Trump and Bolton in recent months have reportedly increased the president's decision to cancel a planned attack on Iran, as the latter has dropped an American threat.
Bolton has favoured the attacks on Iran, but, in public, he has made efforts to downplay differences with the president.
Even though Trump has said he is open to a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rohan, Bolton has not seen this as changing the position of the president.
“He will meet with anyone to talk to”, Bolton told Radio Free Europe. He's a negotiator. He makes deals. But talking to them does not mean that President Trump doesn't mean changing position”.
Trump has also reportedly been disappointed with Bolton, due to failed efforts to oust Venezuela's president, Nicolas Maduro.
The Washington Post writes that Bolton has not even liked the president's repeated insistences that Russia return to G7, or the group of the seven most industrialized countries.
Bolton, in some cases, has reiterated that the White House strongly supports reaching a comprehensive agreement between Kosovo and Serbia for normalising relations.
In August 2018, Bolton has said the US does not rule out the idea of territorial corrections, if Kosovo and Serbia reach agreement on such a thing.
“The issue of achieving stability in the Balkans is very important for us”, Bolton world has said.
After his dismissal, American State Secretary Mike Pompeo said foreign leaders should not think Trump's foreign policies would differ with the departure of any official from his administration.
The White House confirmed that Trump has named Bolton's deputy, Charles Cupperman, as the task adviser of national security.
