Albanians appear to be one of the peoples most influenced by political and historical factors in naming their children.
In an examination of names set over the years, the most widely used names were Fatime, Hajrie, Marie, Sannie, and Skender, of Turkish descent, between 1900 and 1940.
The “Conditions of the Ottoman occupation in Albania have left a very strong impact on the names we feel today. Even during the time of the occupation in Albania, there has been greater wonder at names associated with certain rulers. For example, in Albania, there have been a lot of mothers named Hitler from year to year and then returned Hito when Hitler fell and then Tito”, says sociologist Guzim Tushi Ora.
Then isolation in dictatorship brought unification of children's names based on names allowed to be used.
Then there was a book, a book that was doctrinal, a book that was mandatory in the Civil State and to put the name of a child's name on the page of that book, where you could find Albanian names, such as mine, Gezim, Desire, Love. ”
But in recent years, the most popular names are Noel, Amelia, Ayla, Aaron, Arya, Joel, and Roan, inspired by foreign characters.
“The xenocentric trends of Albanian citizens are very expressive, especially in the ranks of names. The preference for foreign names, more and more of the Albanian names has caused us not to understand which country we are in every time we meet a young child, a young woman born in the last 30 years. ”
Experts suggest that Albanian parents be more careful in naming their descendants, mainly in uniting mechanical names of names that often result in literal nonsense.
