Elez: Exiles meeting criteria to apply for voter registration in Kosovo -video

The Central Election Commission encourages all exiles meeting the legal criteria to apply in order to vote via mail in the appointed period, which is September 18th October 4th.

CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi, in an interview for Kosova Preress, says the Central Election Commission has done its best to create as much space as possible in order to get as many voter registration applications abroad as possible.

It shows that no problems have been recorded during this period as it invites the diaspora to use the remaining time to apply for registration to vote in the 6 October elections.

The period of application to register as voters outside Kosovo, which has already begun on August 30th, will be almost complete on Tuesday, September 10th. The CEC encourages all those or those that meet the legal criteria to apply first means to register as voters outside Kosovo and then vote through mail in the period scheduled for September 18th to October 4th”, he says.

If we compare the length of this period to the same election period in 2017, Elez says that this time there have been more days available for application to register as voters outside Kosovo.

“in 2017, so for parliamentary elections in 2017, we've had 8 days available, already this time it's four more days so only for the application to be registered as voters outside Kosovo. Meanwhile, for the period of voting through mail, which starts on 18 September and ends on October 4th, we have one more day available, compared to the same period in the early parliamentary elections of 2017”, Elez said.

He says the CEC has created some facilities to simplify the application process, including access to one of the CEC's electronic addresses.

Elez says that according to data from the voting service, by Monday morning, 15 thousand and 200 voter registration applications have been accepted abroad, while remembering that during early 2017 parliamentary elections, during the application period from May 15th to May 22nd, there have been about 21,000 applications.

Otherwise, the deadline for application to be registered as voters outside Kosovo started on August 30th and ends tomorrow, September 10th at midnight. While those to whom the application will be approved will have the opportunity to vote from 18 September to 4 October.
