Kosovo last night suffered defeat 5:3 against England at the Southampton Stadium, “St. Mary '%s”, within the Group A for qualifications at the 2020 European Championship, writes Express newspaper.

However, 32 years ago, Fadil Vokrri, who is considered by many as the best football player in the history of Kosovo football, had suffered a deeper defeat against the English, but as Yugoslavia's representative and not Kosovo's.

England had won that match by 4:1, thanks to Peter Beardsley's goals (450), John Barnes (1750), Bryan Robson (200) and Tony Adams (250). While the only goal for Yugoslavia had been scored by Srecko Katanec, ten minutes before the end of the match.

Among the football players who appeared as a starter at the Crvena Zuseda stadium was Fadil Vokri, who carried the fanella nine, while at the time he was playing for the Belgrade Partizan.

The defeat in this match had been deeper in history for Yugoslavia since the 61 defeat against Scotland in friendly on September 12, 1984, where Vokri had scored his only goal for Yugoslavia.

This had been Vokrri's last performance for Yugoslavia, despite having scored six goals in 12 matches. But this fight convinced coach Ivica Susic to invite some young players, such as Safet Sosic, who at the time played for Paris Saint-Germainin.

Vorri continued his career with Partizan for another two years, while then continued in Turkey and France. After retirement and after the end of the war in Kosovo, Vokrri returned to his homeland and became Pristina sports director.

On February 16, 2008, he was elected president of the Kosovo Football Federation and held that position until his death on June 9, 2018. Among his biggest achievements was Kosovo's membership in FIFA and UEFA in 2016.
