One of the key problems in Kosovo remains women's rights, along with lack of rule of law.
Only 17 percent of women have any property. While only one of the 38 per cent of divorced women who have sought their right in common wealth has realized that right.
So told the discussion table on the case of publishing the research report on common wealth and financial maintenance, the Justice and Equality Initiative.
INJECT Director Luljeta Aliu said the courts should respect the legal framework.
She said 50 per cent of divorced women have experienced domestic violence. According to research, Aliu said 38 per cent of divorced women have sought their property, but 60 per cent of them have not.
“70 per cent have the court's decision for allimentation, while only 25 per cent of women have made it right. 60 per cent of women who have claimed that the husband did not have separate assets, while they did not receive half of the property”, she said.
Naim Qela, acting deputy minister of justice and co-ordinator for Family Violence, said society must be learned from a different opinion. According to him, judicial practice in Kosovo does not only have a bad side, but also has a good side.
We definitely had a difficult past but we had a judicial practice. We should also consider developing our society as a people, the interventions we've had. However, we have managed to establish a solid judiciary. What's going on with women today is to worry”, he said.
Lawyer Anton Noecaj said in all cases, women are the victim of human rights violations.
The key victim is female. Some things are not working in practice as good as the legal framework is. I'm not going to have some divorce processes, with a process ending all”, he said.
