US Secretary of State Mike Pompeii has appointed Deputy Secretary Matthew Palmer as his Special Representative for the Western Balkans.
The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has reacted to this, saying it is welcome to boost the US role of integration for Kosovo and the entire region in the highest Euro-Atlantic instance.
“I wish Matthew's appointment Palmer as a special representative for the Western Balkans and welcomes an increased US role for the integration of Kosovo and the entire region towards Euro-Atlantic nations”, Thaci wrote on Twitter.
President Hashim Thaci has repeatedly demanded that the US be involved in the issue of dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
Even when Merkel and Macron had called the Berlin Summit, Thaci had said that without US involvement, there could be no final solution with Serbia.
