O'Connell reacts to the US Embassy's decision in Kosovo: Nepotism and corruption are destroying Kosovo

Following the US Embassy's decision to withdraw from the board of the Kosovo Agency for Comparison and Verification of Property, British Ambassador Ruairi O'Connell, who had made the same decision shortly after Naser Shala was elected to the helm of this agency. O'Connell thought that Shala had only been chosen because of [...] connections.

O'Connell recalled that Shala had only been elected because of his connections since she was part of the KLA and was not qualified for such a position, while there were candidates who were qualified but were not taken into account by the Kosovo Assembly.

The British ambassador said nepotism and corruption are destroying Kosovo, while they are losing patience. According to him, Kosovo citizens deserve better and must punish those involved in such practices.

There is no point in spending time trying to help Kosovo institutions when most in the country do not want to know and when individuals are not ashamed of being employed unjustly and do not know how to do the job properly. Nepotism, corruption and capture of the state will destroy Kosovo. The patience of Kosovo's friends is running out. Kosovo citizens deserve better, but only if they decide to punish those involved in these practices”, O'Connell said.
