Matthew Palmer, US Special Representative for the Balkans appointed

Palmer will participate in the Black Strategic Forum in the new role since September 1st, while later he will represent the US at Quint's meetings in Brussels and Podgorica.
“Palmer will lead our goals to strengthen US diplomatic efforts in supporting peace, stability and progress in the region and in focusing on the integration of Western Balkan states into Western institutions”, the UN statement says.
In addition to the new post, Palmer will continue to exercise the duty of deputy assistant secretary of State at the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, which has been taking place since 2018.
He used to be Director of the Office for Southern and Middle Europe.
