Thunberg is expected to arrive in New York soon after crossing the Atlantic Ocean on a carbon-free yacht.
“Land! ! Ahead are the lights of Linda Island and New York,” the 16-year-old girl said on Twitter.
Thundberg is sailing towards New York to attend the UN summit to ban carbon emissions next month, after refusing to travel by plane because of emissions causing these vehicles, writes The Guardian, Periscope.
She was offered the yacht by Pierre Cascalaghi, son of Princess Caroline of Monaco, and German navigator Boris Herrman.
The 16-year-old, whose protests at school inspired children around the world to protest the climate crisis, wrote she expected to arrive in Manhattan on Tuesday.
He later wrote that he was facing a difficult voyage because of the weather conditions, and his arrival would be delayed.
Her trip began August 14, from England. /Periscope
