Even with a less member, the CEC is open to elections

With their votes, Kosovo Assembly deputies during yesterday have ended the sixth legislature of the Kosovo Parliament.

Immediately, it has been the reaction of Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, who said he will soon announce the election date.

On the other side of the Central Election Commission have indicated that they are ready for elections, and that they have started some routine preparations that the General Election Law has permitted.

Central Election Commission Chairman (KQZ) Valdete Daka has declared that they are awaiting the exact date from the president to begin intensive preparations for the extraordinary elections.

“The CEC since the prime minister's resignation has been days since the elections are held and we have started with routine preparations as much as the Law for General Elections has permitted. And the moment we get the exact date from the president of the Republic, we're going to start seriously dealing with the” elections, says Daka.

Although it has been described as the possible date for election day 6 October, the head of the Central Election Commission has declared that during meetings he had with the president, Hashim Thaci has recommended several dates he refused to talk about.

Regarding the deadlines for the Daka election campaign, it depends on the reasonableness political parties will offer for the extension of the election campaign, and then this will be in the hands of the CEC.

I've certainly expressed my thoughts about the evental dates and the possibility of being given as much of an election organisation as possible, so that we have the optimum date in the context of 45 days as the Constitution predicts... I didn't want to be promoted, however, by selecting the date is right and by the president's discretion, and only he has the right to inform the public about the date... “We will see here we have representatives of political parties seeing the reasonableness of extending the election campaign, and only after that will we come up with a decision”, the CEC chairman says.

Although in the CEC they claim they are ready for elections this commission is still missing a member of the former PAN coalition.

And for this CEC chairman Valdete Daka said it is the competence of the country's president, and that the absence of a member within the CEC will not be an obstacle.

“CEC with the Constitution should be composed of 11 members along with me, yet we in our composition do not even have a former coalition member PAN and this case is a matter that is, in the power of the president, not ours, and yet we, even though we lack a member, will carry out all our duties and obligations as envisioned with the Constitution, so it is not an obstacle, but it would be better yet that they were all “, Daka points out.

In order for the entire election process to go well, Daka said that this Commission has already made an action plan during the outside election period, but that according to it depends on political subjects.

“The CEC already has the recommendations of international observers, local observers, and we've been trying to make an outside election plan in this period of action and focus on improving the organisation of the elections, however we will do all that the Constitutional Law allows us, then in the end again remains to political subjects and those who on election day have the whole process in their hands to decide whether to have fair and fair elections or not, the first CEC stressed.

Regarding the revision of the Daka voting lists, the CEC does not manage the lists, since they are the property of the Civil Record Agency.

The CEC chairman has also stated that until the date is not known when the elections will be held, political parties cannot apply to be part of the race in this early elections.

Daka has assured that the election process will be held throughout Kosovo's territory, including the north.

We remember that up to early elections came after Ramush Haradinaj's resignation from the post of prime minister of the country. He made that decision after the invitation to appear at the Special Court as a suspect.
