On the morning of August 12th 2001, the operation of the intervention of military police units in Luboten, where six-year-old Erdjan Aliu killed the six-year-old child, as well as Dalip Murati, Muharrem Ramadani, Memet Memet Memeti, Rami Jusuf, Xhelal Bajrami, Kadri Yashari, Sulejman Bajrami, Atula Qali.
A total of 14 houses were burned in the action, while more than 100 other residents were arrested and mistreated, arguing that members of the KLA were present in the village.
Luboten's case was one of the only cases that were prosecuted and tried by the International War Crimes Tribunal, on charges of crimes committed against Albanian civilians, former senior member of Macedonian security forces Johan Tarculovski, while the first former Interior Minister Lube Boskovski was acquitted of the prosecution.
Tarculovski was sentenced by The Hague tribunal to 12 years in prison for murder, violation of the laws of war, torture and destruction of property, but he is currently at large after being held eight years in prison.
On the other hand, Tarculovski, but Boskovski, on the part of the state, is considered and honoured as national heroes of the 2001 conflict.
