On June 12th, about 8: 00 a.m., alpinist Uta Ibrahimi also climbed tops “Gashhurburum 11” (8,058m higher than the top 11th largest in the world, part of the Karakorum mountain, Pakistan.
The road to such heights is never without surprises because of wild terrain, unpredictable weather, glaciers, and orchids. To reach base camp (5,200m), it has had to walk 150-160 km in various camps, a mixed stone path (morean) and glacier.
Climbing from the base camp to Camp 2,500m) has been fully unpolluted and extremely dangerous, especially for the cravasians, but climbing is made by rope between different glues.
For Camp 3 (7,200m), the climb has been mostly technical, with a 50-5% slope and ice and stones.
The developments from camp to camp are heavy preparation for the attack on the mass, but they are also a good opportunity to meet and talk with mountaineers from around the world and understand, to tell you about our Kosovo, about our mountains. Many of them continued their conversation after the expedition, and on similar occasions, some have even visited Kosovo.
The June 11th, 18:30th attack begins in Camp 3 too. The 60% slope and lack of rope have made the climb slower than planned. In the last 150 meters, along with other teams (10 people), the rope has been fixed and it has slowly continued towards the mass. During the attack towards the mat was a huge cold and there were multiple snowfalls all night long, and as a result, Uta and part of the team get lung flues. But still, Uta climbs to the top of Gasheburum 1 (8,058m) at 8: 00 a.m.
This is the 5th and 880m peak I've climbed, what officially makes me the only mountaineer in the Balkans who has climbed 5 peaks over 8,000 meters by crossing the climber from Slovenia (which has 4 peaks). I still have the top to stick, but I won't stop. I am very happy to continue promoting Kosovo through climbing, to put our flag wherever I ascend, and to tell the world of our natural beauty worth visiting” Uta said by Islamabad, Pakistan.
Maya Gasheburum 1 (8,058 m) has been climbed for the first time by Americans in 1958 by another route, and then we 1980 by a Japanese expedition, to the north, the path Uta Ibrahimi has followed.
This climb is part of an expedition “14 left of the Himalayas”, initiated by Uta Ibrahimi to stick to a total of the world's 14 highest Mays an expedition that very few have accomplished in the world.
This expedition has been supported by: Kosovo's Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Red Bull, Park Hote- Skopje, Pristina-Limak Airport, Turkish Airlines and the Begreja family.
