Ursula von der Leyen is the woman nominated for the position of European Commission president so far held by Jean-Claude Juncker.

Lady von der Leyen will become the first woman to assume the presidency of the Commission if her nomination passes to the European Parliament with major responsibilities involving the proposal of new laws for the EU, strengthening the bloc's rules and reaching trade agreements.

She was born in Brussels, but her family moved to Germany when she was only 13 years old. Von der Leyen studied the economy in London and medicine in Hanover before going into politics. She speaks fluent English and French, besides German.

Ursula is the close ally of German Chancellor Angela Merkel and has been a member of the latter's party since 2005.

Now she's 60 years old, and she's the mother of seven children, a pretty high figure for a country that averages 1,59 children for a woman.

German politician is too loud for the integration of other countries into the EU, and strongly supports military co-operation in the EU in order to promote peace.
