Study: The solution to climate warming, the planting of many trees

A team of researchers has estimated that there is enough room on Earth to plant trees able to absorb two thirds of the carbon present in the atmosphere, a solution to climate warming. Study conducted by university professors “ETH Zurich” and published Thursday in “Science” estimates that 900 million acres [900 million ha] of additional forests can be planted on Earth, adding 2.8 billion acres [2.5 billion ha] to currently available.
These extra forests would have the ability to absorb 205 ggatons of carbon, from 300 gigatons that have grown in the atmosphere since the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the industrial era.
Half of the forested industrial areas are located in six countries - Russia, the U.S.A., Canada, Australia, Brazil, and China - according to the study.
