Presidential decision pending following Haradinaj's resignation

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, who is the competent authority to take the first action, has not issued any new announcement, in addition to a response he had Friday on the social Facebook network.

Thaci had written there how the president of the Republic of Kosovo would act based on his competencies and the Constitution for the situation created after the prime minister's resignation.

Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Kadri Veselini, in Saturday afternoons, called a news conference where he said early elections are inevitable, following Haradinaj's resignation from the prime minister's post.

“The former prime minister's decision to resign is a personal decision, and as such we have accepted it, despite having no preliminary announcement or consultation. Already, early elections are inevitable. The PDK is ready for elections whenever they are appointed”, Veselin said, adding that for the appointment of the election date, there should be consultations among political parties.

For that, I believe we will have consultations and other coalition partners thus far and other political parties, in accordance with the Constitution and laws we have in force”, the leader said PDK, Kadri Wessel.

On the other hand, the opposition is also demanding that the country go to the polls. That was the stance expressed by the opposition even before Haradinaj's resignation.

The Democratic League of Kosovo has called on Kosovo's president to start consultations with political parties on setting the date of early elections. The LDK's call, addressed to President Hashim Thaci, followed the assembly's chairmanship, called after Ramush Haradinaj's resignation from the prime minister's position. LDK Chairman Isa Mustafa said “The LDK does not accept any choice other than elections”.

The ongoing Democratic Order of Kosovo over the past year has reiterated that it is necessary to go to early elections, since the country's institutions have long been without legitimacy. These elections will enable Kosovo citizens to give political legitimacy to a government that emerges from those elections to run the country. These are our positions of headship”, Mustafa said.

And Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Albin Kurti said at a media conference that Kosovo is suffering the consequences of the Special Court vote by those who made bad decisions and who had wrong attitudes. Kurti, in front of the media, has invited Kosovo President Hashim Thaci to set the election date as soon as possible.

According to Kurti, Haradinaj is free and that, as he said by the Special Court, he will only be interviewed, as has happened with the other commands of is. h - KLA.

“-Prime Minister Haradinaj has neither been arrested nor charged. So the former prime minister is neither in prison nor there is an indictment. Specialised Prosecution will be interviewed by dozens of other fighters and commanders”, Kurti said.

Vetevendosje leader said Kosovo now no longer has a hopeless Government as it was great.

We don't have a government that was backwards and hopeless, just like it was big. Now the hope is to change, to elections, to freedom, to democracy, to self-determination”, Kurti said.

Kurti stressed that Vetevendosje is ready for new elections.

President Thaci must call us to set the election date. That's it. I call on him not to file the process towards free and democratic elections. Kosovo today has no government. Kosovo must be done with new government. But that is what citizens need to talk about. Citizens have to choose. Citizens should be defined”, Kurti said.

Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj submitted his resignation the day before, after receiving the invitation to be questioned at The Hague now. He said he was summoned to the Special War Crimes Prosecutor in The Hague, where he reportedly could present himself next week. Haradinaj at his conference following his resignation stressed that he could not allow it to be presented as prime minister in the Special Chambers and for that reason has resigned.e. /Europe Free/
