At least 18 people, including a pregnant woman, were injured by hail beans in Pescara. The victims were taken to the city emergency center.
The pregnant woman suffered head and face injuries, reports Italian news agency ANSA.
The others suffered bruises and injuries, mostly in the head, and everyone had to be stitched up.
The hail caused damage to the cars, breaking their windows and roofing at the tourist resorts.
ANSA reports that roads “are transformed into rivers” in some areas in the city of Abruzzo.
Peskaras Mayor Carlo Massi said the streets in town are impassable after the storm of rain and hail. He said that “this phenomenon was extraordinary”.
The city is impossible. Firefighters and council workers are all on the streets, but it's not enough to face 911, Massi said.
The city hospital was also flooded with atmospheric resurfaces and its operations were banned.

The last “, Italy, has been increasingly exposed to extreme climate events because it has lacked the natural protection once developed by the Azores Anticlone”, explains Antonello Pasi, an atmosphere physicist at the CNR.
