Massive escape wave can be repeated

Since Kosovo has been declared a state and has so far released 20% of its population. In the last five years 135 thousand citizens have left the country illegally, and only 400,000 have been returned. The main reasons are estimated to be a lack of perspective, poverty, and poor governance. [...]
Demush Shasha, from the institute EPIK, counting the reasons why citizens are leaving the country, has suggested that the politics and leadership of governments are one of the main reasons why Kosovo's young have lost hope in their country.
In the case of Kosovo, we note there is great disappointment among citizens over the past two decades of social developments. Instead of building liberal democracy with progressive social participants based on stable and inclusive economies, a clientocracy has been installed, where the political scene captures public institutions and monopolises the private sector for the sole purpose of the ruling remnant”, Shasha has said of “Zerin”.
He stresses that, given the above-mentioned statistics and political and economic developments in Kosovo, there are opportunities to repeat once again the migration wave of 2014-2015.
“Taking on this risk data to repeat the 2014 and 2015 situation is still present, as we can conclude that citizens are deeply disappointed with political and economic developments in Kosovo. In the absence of addressing the main causes contributing to the decision of citizens to leave the country at the risk of repeating the mass migration of 2014 and 2017 is omniprezent”, he has declared.
