After Kosovo, Engel visits northern Macedonia

American lawmaker Elliot Engel, chairman of the House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs Commission, is standing for a visit to northern Macedonia.
Lawmaker Engel with US wife and representatives of the American Embassy in Skopje was hosted Saturday evening by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev.
According to a report by Prime Minister Zaev's office, Mr. Engel has expressed strong support for the integration and sustainability of northern Macedonia.
The report reportedly has been estimated that the Republic of Northern Macedonia is walking on the right track, while its good neighbourly policies, reforms, formation of the comprehensive government and establishing an equal society for all citizens of the country”.
Prime Minister Zaev has announced the US lawmaker with the results of the Prespa Agreement with Greece on the name issue and the expectations of NATO membership, developments that have added, according to him, foreign investments to over $700m in the country.
Northern Macedonia expects this year to become NATO's 30th member, and hopes that in autumn it will open membership negotiations in the European Union.
Mr. Engel on Sunday will be received by other senior state officials in Northern Macedonia. His visit to Skopje follows visits to Serbia, Kosovo and Albania.
