So Germany's Health Minister Jens Spahn declared today in Pristina, after signing the agreement on co-operation with our country in the field of health, which is seen as an opportunity for modernisation of the health system in our country.
Kosovo Health Minister Uran Ismaili said that with the signing of this agreement, the German pledge for top priorities, such as hospital management and health insurance, as he announced they have also discussed building a centre for the training of nurses.
“Today is a historic day for Kosovo for the fact that we have a pledge by Germany that they will help the health of Kosovo. By signing this agreement, it is a new step to create a modern health system in the country. Kosovo's goal remains to take on better European practices”, Ismaili said.
While, Minister Spahn said Kosovo and Germany have good co-operation opportunities, as according to him, Germany has greater numbers of older citizens, while Kosovo has new ones.
He said today's agreement could serve as a basis for exchange of experiences.
German has more than 125-year-old expertise. We with our experiences want to offer support and counsel. On the other hand, we also have areas where we can help, such as qualification and certificate in the field of nursing. In the future we can raise the level. It would be best to get to know each other more easily in Germany. Germany needs the arrival of nurses' field experts. For this reason, I am happy that we have established a common basis. One goal is professional schooling in schools, which refers to the German standard. Also, today I have seen visa procedures, and we need to see the acceleration of the visa for nurses”, Spahn said.
Moreover, he has indicated that there will be exchange and support in the field of health insurance.
“I've heard there could be support in the field of health insurance. The question is also asked, in case of an emergency, when a person is unable to cover financial expenses, help will be offered. We need about 70 thousand nurses. This large number of nurses we need can only reach with arrivals from other countries, and Kosovo is the first state with which we signed agreement of this nature”, he said.
Otherwise, according to the Federation of Health Unions, about 300 nurses are considered to have left Kosovo this year to seek jobs in Western countries.
