The Ebola virus has reached the city of Goma, where 2 million people reside and serve as strategic routes throughout Central Africa for the first time since the outbreak was distributed about a year earlier.
The Congo Health Ministry stated that a man who had arrived at the regional centre on Sunday was immediately transported to the Ebola Treating Centre, writes The Guardian, records Periscopi.
Authorities have said they have later made identification of all passengers traveling from Goma to Butembo, one of the most hit countries.
Because of the speed at which the patient was identified and isolated, and because of the identification of other bus travelers coming from Butembo, the risk of distributing the disease in the city of Goma is small, the health minister said in a statement.
The virus has killed more than 1600 people in Congo, and two had returned home along the Ugandan border. Nearly 700 people have managed to recover from infections.
Official statistics say there are 2489 cases, of which 2395 confirmed. /Periscope
