The attorney general, William Barr, claimed that the five prisoners had been sentenced to death after charges of child or elderly abuse and murder were confirmed.
Executions are scheduled for December of this year and January next year.
Barr declared that through such sentences justice is being served and is an obligation to the victims' families.
After that decision, there have been numerous reactions from human rights organisations and candidates for presidential Democrats who have rejected it.
They have accused Trump of pressing such penalties with his policies.
