Stephen Biegun, US Special Representative for North Korea, said the US is ready for talks, to make progress towards meeting commitments to deregulation the Korean Peninsula.
US President Donald Trump, and the northeastern leader, Kim Jong Un, met in Singapore in June of last year and pledged to the nuclear disarming of the Korean Peninsula, but details of the implementation of this plan were not provided.
Another meeting between the parties, in February of this year in Hanoi, has ended without agreement.
This weekend, Trump will visit South Korea.
Bieg said the Trump meeting with southeastern leaders “will be an important opportunity for peace and prosperity” in the Korean Peninsula.
