The snail caused power shortages, leading to chaos in the province of Kayashi and stopping about 30 trains carrying over 12,000 travelers.
Japanese media reported that the snail had gone through a small crack to the breaking point, causing a short circuit. The snail's solid remains were found near the railway.
Similar incidents have previously been recorded in Great Britain and Switzerland
