Tens of Serbs have gathered today in Gazimestan to celebrate Kosovo's Lost Battle on June 28th of 1389.
With nationalist slogans such as “Kosovo is Serbia” and other Serb slogans in Gazimestan have not had anyone to speak to from politicians, but only from the Serbian Church.
Those present in Gazimestan have held in their hands the flags of medieval Serbia, flags with inscription “no surrender”, torches were lit and songs were sung.
Also unveiled is a banner with a resident “There is no division, Kosovo is part of Serbia”.
The liturgies were guided by Metropolitan Amfilohije and Bishop Teodosije, along with priests of the Serbian Orthodox Church, as the retired bishop Atanasije addressed the audience. He
He has called this country a place of victory, referring to other battles like that of Koshar and Pashrik.
Atanasius called it NATO terrorist organisation.
We're here at the winning spot and this is not the only one, we've won in Kostunica and the Pacific. We won against it. NATO, we have won against the Albanian Army and the KLA. Milosevic and those who are now President Vuciq since then the minister have surrendered to Kumanovo. Kosovo's liberation was signed in Kumanovo. And what they signed (result 1244) NATO has not respected it, only they have spoken. Evidence of this is that they have not declared NATO aggressor and the international terrorist powers that have occupied Kosovo and Metohija. NATO is a terrorist organisation”, Anatasije said.
According to Kosovo Police estimates, 800 to 1,000 people -- mainly Serbs from Kosovo and Serbia -- participated in ceremonies at the Gazimestan location, but there were also vehicles from Bosnia and Slovenia.
None of the top Serbian political representatives from Kosovo or Serbia has been present.
Vidovdan's celebration links with the 630th anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo, which Serbian history recognises as its spiritual victory despite a major loss of Balkan forces and the murder of Serbian Prince Lazarus. /Kosovo pres/
