May, which met with Putin in the margin of the G20 summit, or the group of most industrialized countries, in Osaka, Japan, also urged Putin to hand over two Russian military intelligence officers, whom Britain blames for poisoning with toxic agents of a former Russian agent and his daughter last year in England's town of Sallsbury.
“May told the president (rus) that there can be no normalisation of bilateral relations until Russia stops its irresponsible and destabilising activity, which threatens the United Kingdom and its allies”, the British prime minister's spokeswoman said.
Sergei Scripal and his daughter Yulia were poisoned with Agent Novick in March last year. Both survived the attack.
Britain has expelled several Russian diplomats because of the scandal.
In an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times on Friday, Putin reiterated that Russia has nothing to do with poisoning.
