Macron's visit to Belgrade next month will be the first French president after 18 years.
At the meeting with the head of the Serbian state on Wednesday, French Ambassador Frederic Mondolon said he would bring “messages to Belgrade: improving economic relations, supporting reforms in Serbia and supporting the normalisation of Belgrade-Pristina relations through dialogue.
Vucic and Mondolon have also discussed the situation in the region and Serbia's accession to the European Union, according to a press release from the Serbian Presidency, media in Belgrade report, the Kosovo Clan broadcasts.
The Serbian president has reiterated that Belgrade will be ready for dialogue with Pristina only after Kosovo abolishes the tax, as it has called <x0-cyvilising and illegal” on Serbian products.
Pristina's “unilateral movements that risk escalation and endanger peace and stability in the region are unacceptable”, he said.
According to the press release, Mondolon has praised Serbia's approach to the current crisis with Pristina, saying France appreciates the Serbian side's peaceful response “.
