Kosovo-Albania trade, Jaka: Albanian government eliminates barriers

According to Jaka, unless immediate measures are taken it would damage Albanian exports, as Kosovo would create the same barriers.
Although exports to Kosovo have recognised a significant increase of about 52% over this year's 4 months, the barriers are questioning economic co-operation. Chamber of Commerce and Industry head Nikolin Jaka urged the government to react as soon as possible and remove barriers that jeopardise trade between the two countries.
We now demand the removal of the terminal, scan removal, recognition of phytosanitary certificates, and the solution to trade exchange between our countries for various products that seriously affect economic circulation between our countries. While we are far behind with a national economy, that is, because we should have a national economic plan, potentially introducing part of North Macedonia”, he said.
According to Jaka, if no measures are taken as much as money Kosovo will set the same tariffs on Albanian businesses, and this will harm exports.
“One of the biggest problems in Albanian exports today is the drop in Euros. Meanwhile, if we have another problem with Kosovo for reciprocity for the problematic Kosovo is dealing with means that Albanian exports will recognise significant contractions, which will put the country's companies in financial trouble”, Jaka said.
As we are at the tourist season and the largest weight in the country, Kosovars hold the head of the Chamber of Commerce appealed for circulation ease.
“To improve the climate and conditions to make economies and trade circulation between our countries and to facilitate the circulation of travellers in the tourist season, though not to remove even the beam between Albania and Kosovo”, he said after Ora News.
Mad exports in Albania have seen a total decline, but trade with Kosovo turns out to have increased by about 100m euros within four years.
