International Action in Albania Against False Foods and Drinks

Albania's police have participated in an international operation codenamed “Opson 8”, supported by Interpol and Europol. This operation was aimed at hitting the criminal activity of producing and trafficking of food and expired beverages. During the action in Albania, 244 commercial subjects, persons, workshops and transport vehicles have been checked.
In a statement to the media, State Police suggest 8 subjects have been prosecuted for violations of industrial property rights, 30 others for smuggling of goods, 22 people have been prosecuted in a free state, 9 people have been arrested influance, and another 1 has been declared on the run.
During this operation, 2534kg of frozen meat, 8560 liters of wine, 372kg of coffee, 700kg of cheese, 264kg of sausage and by - products, 52 liters of alcoholic beverages, 100 liters of soft drinks, 1450 liters of mineral water, 450 liters of eggs, 66 liters of vegetable oil, 85kg of dried fruit, and 600 potato units, whose value totals 160 thousand dollars.
