Haradinaj boasts, but what is truth about unemployment in Kosovo

From January to the end of March, Kosovo had 19,255 unemployed people. Compared to last year's end, according to the Kosovo Statistics Agency unemployment in Kosovo has dropped by 4.5 percent, down from 29.6 percent. Based on this data from the Labour Power Survey published two [...]
Based on this data of the Labour Power Survey published two days ago, in all of unemployed Kosovo there are 125,717 persons out of 144,972 people who were in December last year.
During the day, however, it was reported differently from various institutions in the country.
Some who misread the Kosovo Statistics Agency report reported that in Kosovo over 60 percent of citizens are unemployed.
Meanwhile, some prided on lowering the unemployment rate, which they attributed to the Kosovo government at the helm with Ramush Haradinaj.
But if the Labour Power poll is carefully read, it turns out that Kosovo's Statistics Agency for three months has managed to declare the job unable to remove less than 32,316 citizens.
It seems incredible, but by comparison with the unemployment rate of 2018 and the quarter of this year's unemployment decrease is just a figure game, but not a reality, writes InFokus newspaper.
But how did it happen?
The newspaper InFokus has analysed the last two surveys of the Labour Power Survey to find that all that has happened is the increasing number of citizens in the non-active job category, which automatically removes them from the job market by causing the unemployment rate to be lower, despite the rate of employment remains the same.
If we refer to the Labor Force Survey for 2018 published on April 2, the rate of working age people who are not economically active was 59.1 percent, which means they are not employed and have not been active in their search for employment over the past four weeks and/or are unwilling to start work within two weeks.
According to figures, 708,170 people were not economically active, while the unemployment rate was 29.6 percent, writes InFokus newspaper.
But on June 18, when the results of the Workers Power Survey are released, the first quarter of 2019 turns out to have increased the number of working - age people who are not economically active from 59.1 percent to 61.3 percent.
So the number of inactive citizens for work has increased to 740,486 people who are not employed and who have not been active in the search for employment over the past four weeks and/or are not willing to start work within two weeks, writes InFokus newspaper.
Thus, unemployment rates have dropped from 29.6 per cent to 26.9 per cent, and only 125,717 persons throughout Kosovo appear to be unemployed.
But as evidence that there has been no increase in employment in this period is the employment rate that has dropped from 28.8 percent to 28.2 percent compared with the preliminary report. /IFokus Business
