Although the EU's pressure to lift the tax on Serbian products is growing, Kosovo institutions remain steadfast in keeping the fee in force.
As the tax removal was requested by the German-French delegation, who visited Kosovo on Monday, MPs estimate that even if the tax is lifted Serbia will not return to the negotiating table.
MP from the ruling party's ranks Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Rasim Selmanaj, has said the Kosovo government remains steadfast in reporting with the removal of the tax, until no conditions from Serbia will be accepted.
Our position about the tax remains the same. There is no constitutional dialogue and the tax decision is the sovereign decision of the Government of Kosovo and we are ready for dialogue, but no constitutional dialogue, so the position remains the same”, he said of “Zin.
The AAK MP stressed that Kosovo is ready for dialogue, but for unconditional dialogue. “We are for dialogue regardless that Kosovo has a thousand reasons to set conditions, but we are not doing this, rather we are ready for dialogue, but unconditionally”, he added.
