In Sunday's election, the Serbian List took the lead in four northern Kosovo municipalities -- North Mitrovica, Zvecan, Zubin Potok and Leposaviq -- all with over 90 per cent of the vote.
Although two Albanian political parties competed in that part of the country: The Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Vetevendosje Movement -- the same courage -- is estimated not to be shared by other Serb parties, as the leaders of the latter have said, due to the blackmail and threats of the Serbian List -- writes the newspaper “Voice”.
Thus, it is considered that even after elections in Serb majority municipalities, change will be impossible and democracy will not exist. Shortly after the victory, the Serbian List did not deny the possibility of resignations of Serbian leaders, they even stressed that they would consult with Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucinq.
Political analyst Rasim Alija in response to “Zen” has indicated that elections in the north have overwhelmed democracy and pluralism. “In elections where candidates of a political subject achieve victory with 98% of the vote no longer speak of democracy.
We're talking about drowning the democratic system and pluralism. As for resignations, if they happen, and signals are for this, they will turn the whole process to zero and all that would make elections only a farce of democracy”, Alija said.
According to him, nothing will change in the north after these elections and that there is no waiting for even the Serbs who live there.
“Practically has changed and will not change anything. They are the same Serbian List candidates who have threatened and blackmailed other Serb parties, such as the SLS, in the 2017 local elections. They are the same candidates who have rejected Kosovo's sovereignty in that part and will continue to oppose it again. The Serbian list is the frontrunner of Belgrade's instrumentalist policies. In this spirit change there is impossible, unexpected, and can't even be thought of as a wish”, he has stated.
