The country's president, Hashim Thaci, has accepted the European Commission's report on Kosovo by the chief of the European Union Office in Kosovo, Nataliya Apostolova.
Thaci has said Kosovo as a state has a state priority membership in the European Union.
There are many successful reforms in the function of this goal, but of course there are still challenges. Therefore, Kosovo remains ready to co-operate and committed to deepening reforms in the areas identified”, Thaci has said, broadcast Telegraphy.
President Thaci has expressed his frustration that the report deals most with the tax and very little with the real assessment of specific areas.
The language used in the report, according to President Thaci, defines Kosovo as a state that has almost made no progress since declaring independence.
The most often used phrase for the assessment of specific areas in this report is: “Kosovo is in early/ initial stages in each field”.
This assessment and language used, according to President Thaci, does not objectively reflect the situation in our country.
As long as we accept criticism and are aware of the challenges, President Thaci has said that we can't allow indefinitely the fair treatment the EU has towards Kosovo.
The head of state estimates that this report decurs continued reforms, especially in the area of rule of law and rule of law.
Speaking of EU relations with Kosovo, he has stressed that the EU must be principled and not keep Kosovo isolated.
Visa liberalisation should occur immediately and without any additional condition. On the contrary, according to President Thaci, EU credibility will be seriously damaged.
