The Commission for Legislation has organised a public hearing for the Referendum Bill, where it was said it is necessary, because citizens should be asked about certain issues.
However, it was required to be careful and prohibited from constitutional order and territory of referendum.
Commission for Legissation Chairman Albulen Haxhiu said that so far Kosovo citizens have been unable to ask about many important issues, and for that, the referendum bill is very important.
The referendum bill is therefore important in this sense, but there is no doubt room for intervention”, said MP Haxhiu.
Support of this bill was given to the deputy of the Bilall Sheriff Initiative, who said that despite that, this should be adjusted, as the Constitution is.
Parts of this public hearing were representatives of the president's office and prime minister.
Cateazi confidence from the Presidency Office said this current draft should be reformed overall. The same request was held by Mentor Borovci from the Prime Minister's Office.
As for civil society organisations, Kryeziu said the referendum bill at the moment it is discussing has a tendency for political exploitation.
The “needs to be added specifically so that the territory issues are prohibited in referenda and also for constitutional order”, Kryeziu said.
The greatest accuracy in this bill demanded even Enis Halimi from the CEC.
The bill needs some details to prevent uncertainty in the referendum process then”, Halimi said. /Kosovo pres/
