Armed Forces spokesman Jose Domingo Meza said four victims are from the United States and the nationality of another victim has not yet been revealed.
However, emergency services initially said that four Canadians and a person of still unknown nationality died in this accident.
Authorities said they still cannot confirm the cause of the plane crash.
The plane was on its way to the port of Trujillo City, about 50 miles [80 km] from Roatan. This island is a beautiful place visited by American, Canadian, and European tourists.
The crashed plane was called “Pyper PA-32-260” Officials of this company have not commented on this accident, writes the Guardian”.
