German Minister of State for Europe Mikhail Roth calls for more European Union involvement in the region.
He in an interview for Spiegel has talked about whether there should be restoration of borders in the Balkans and the Kosovo visa issue.
“We do not promote it as a generous gift, but because Kosovo has met EU conditions. The EU should not give the impression that we are always dropping and again. If we leave a vacuum in the Western Balkans, strengthening the rule of law and their democracies will be shared with countries like: China, Russia, Turkey”, writes Top Channel.
Der Spiegel asked Minister Roth what he thought about reviewing border restoration by the Kosovo government and Serbia's.
Not this one. This proposal does not calm, provoke new divisions. They should leave no doubt that the future of societies in the Western Balkans is very ethnic and multi-religious. There can be no new exposes along ethnicities”, Roth said.
