Felix Dorfin was arrested because he was found carrying over two kilograms of ecstasy, Crystal methamphetamine and marijuana during last September. His analysis found that he did not use drugs, which led the court to doubt that he intended to sell drugs in Indonesia that had come from France.
The judge handed a high sentence to the judge because of the amount of drugs that Dorfin had with him” said Doffin's lawyer for Reuters. The decision came as a friend to Dorf because he thought he would be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
His lawyer said they would appeal the verdict.
Indonesia has the strictest drug sentence laws, and for any traffickers, the sentence could be from 20 years to death imprisonment. Even since 2009, parents of drug users will be imprisoned for failing to educate their parents.
The regime, which has zero tolerance for drugs in Indonesia, came after eight people were executed for drug trafficking in 2015, where seven were foreign citizens.
